Does TapeNote work on Windows?
Yes. The Windows app records the sound of your PC and transcribes it locally, without internet. Cloud sync is optional.
Can I record from my browser?
Yes, with the extension for Chrome and Edge. Record a single tab or all the sound on your device; the recorder stays visible in a small window.
Can I use TapeNote on my phone?
The iPhone and Android apps are in testing. You can record without an account; to transcribe, you sign in and your recording goes to your library.
Which languages are supported?
Dutch, English, German and Spanish. The language is detected automatically, and you can also choose it yourself.
How accurate is the transcription?
TapeNote uses Whisper, one of the best open speech models. With clear speech the result is close to word for word; with a lot of background noise or people talking over each other, you can easily fix mistakes in the text yourself.
Where are my recordings stored?
On Windows, by default only on your own PC. Recordings from the browser, the web and the apps are kept in your TapeNote library in the cloud, visible only to you and the people you share with. More on Privacy and security.
Can I export my transcripts?
Yes: text, Markdown and subtitles (SRT, VTT). The Windows app also exports to Word and PDF.
Can I share a recording?
Yes, with a share link that shows only the text. You decide how long the link is valid, and you can revoke it at any time.
Is TapeNote free?
Yes. You get 60 credits every month, enough for an hour of transcription. Local transcription on Windows is free without limits. Need more? Buy credits or choose Pro. See Pricing.
